Legacy Ethereum XCN Migration — Claim Step Failing in MetaMask
I have approximately 2.5 million XCN staked in the legacy Ethereum staking contract, and my staking position and accumulated “To Claim” rewards are still visible in the Onyx app.
I am using MetaMask Extension with a Trezor hardware wallet and have approximately 0.119 ETH available for Ethereum gas.
I am trying to use the official Migrate to Onyx function. The migration starts normally but consistently fails at the Claim step. MetaMask displays “Interaction in progress” followed by “Interaction failed.” My Trezor never gets to a transaction-signing prompt.
I have already:
- Cleared a previous pending MetaMask transaction.
- Turned MetaMask Smart Transactions OFF.
- Disconnected and reconnected the Onyx dapp.
- Updated my Trezor firmware to the latest version.
- Confirmed that I am using the same Ethereum/Trezor account throughout.
I also checked the underlying legacy Ethereum staking contract directly on Etherscan. The contract is actively processing withdrawals and staking transactions. I observed approximately 50 transactions in the preceding 24 hours, including successful withdrawals within the last hour. For example, I found a recent successful transaction using:
withdraw(uint256 _pid, uint256 _amount)
with PID 0 and a successful withdrawal of approximately 10,000 XCN.
This indicates that the underlying legacy staking contract itself is operational and capable of processing withdrawals, rather than being inactive or inaccessible.
I also verified that I successfully claimed rewards from this same staking system on June 19. My successful transaction was:
claimReward(uint256 pid)
PID: 0
Method ID: 0xae169a50
To: 0x28CA9CaAE31602D0312Ebf6466c9dD57FCA5da93
Status: Success
Interestingly, 0xae169a50 is the same method ID associated with the claim interaction I originally encountered.
The current migration, however, fails during the Claim step before MetaMask presents a transaction for my Trezor to sign. There is no resulting transaction hash that I can find on Etherscan.
My staked XCN and “To Claim” rewards remain unchanged after each failed attempt.
Could you please investigate why the Claim portion of the migration is failing before the transaction reaches my hardware wallet?
Specifically, I would like to know:
- Is there currently an issue with the Claim step of the legacy Ethereum → Onyx migration?
- Is the migration attempting to call
claimReward(0)on my behalf, and if so, is something preventing that transaction from being generated or simulated? - Is there any special requirement or condition on my legacy staking position that would prevent migration?
- Can I safely leave my XCN staked and my accumulated rewards unclaimed while this is being investigated?
- Is there another official method to claim my accumulated rewards and subsequently migrate the legacy stake without losing those rewards?
I am deliberately not attempting further migrations or unstaking transactions until I understand why the Claim step is failing, because I do not want to risk my approximately 2.5 million XCN position or the accumulated rewards.
Thank you for looking into this.
