Community suggestions on telegram about building an in app chat and support function for Onyx to help eleviate some of the pain we are currently seeing with scammers and impersonators. Dolph seems to be supportive of this from chain side, could this be something we have going forward?
Wow, our wallet is evolving. I love the idea of in-app chat. Let’s see how it will be. It will be a good addition. Whatever we can do to reduce the scam activities, I am always in support
It’s a good and deliberate action to protect the onyx community. It’s definitely a novel idea and I think it should be integrated to the wallet
I will raise this again this week with Dolph, see if it’s something that is in the pipeline. As much as Telegram is easy to use, I feel like an inbuilt chat system could be more secure and filter out messages from Zealy etc.
Yeah, I’m with the idea in principle, but I’m a bit skeptical it will fully fix the scam problem.Even if we get a solid in-app chat, people will still get DMs and fake groups outside of it. Scammers are persistent.More importantly , if we do this, it has to be open to everyone. New members especially need an easy way to ask for help without jumping through hoops or waiting for approval. If access is restricted or complicated, a lot of people will just end up back in the same Telegram mess looking for answers
It can be a great feature too imo. But I think it also won’t be as easy as it seems as scammer will reach anywhere where they can find their prey. But if we can take some security measures it can be great.
I think this would be a really valuable addition for Onyx. An in-app chat/support function could give users a trusted place to ask questions and get help without having to rely on random DMs, which would significantly reduce the risk of falling for impersonators and scammers.
If Dolph is supportive from the chain side, hopefully this is something the team can consider for the roadmap going forward. It could also make onboarding new users much easier by giving them a clear, verified support channel directly within the Onyx ecosystem. ![]()
A lot of potential new users discover Onyx through social media, and that’s where they can easily run into fake admins, moderators, support accounts, or scammers. For someone who is completely new to the project, it can be difficult to distinguish the legitimate channels from the impersonators.
Having an official in-app chat/support function could give users a trusted place to ask questions and get help, rather than having to navigate through multiple social platforms and potentially expose themselves to scammers.
